Wind-Driven Fire Threatens Homes
A wind-fueled brush fire was burning through at least 750 acres in the Angeles National Forest on Sunday evening, threatening about 30 homes and forcing the evacuation of about 3,000 visitors from recreational areas along the San Gabriel River.
Gusts as high as 25 mph fed the flames, which burned on both sides of East Fork Road about eight miles north of Glendora. Authorities said the fire started about 5 p.m. near Camp Williams.
About 300 residents of trailer parks at Camp Williams and Camp Follows were not ordered to evacuate. There were no reports of damage or injuries.
