Poets’ antiwar book published
Poets nationwide are continuing to build on their momentum as a persistent antiwar force with the publication of an anthology this week, “Poets Against the War” (Nation Books).
Contributors include some of the country’s most respected poets: former U.S. poet laureate Rita Dove, Adrienne Rich and W.S. Merwin. The first printing of 40,000 is huge for a collection of poetry.
Poet Sam Hamill edited the anthology, which includes a selection of more than 13,000 poems that were submitted to the Web site poets againstthewar.org.
