Suspect Pleads Guilty to Killing Bank Manager

A man facing the death penalty for killing a bank manager last year surprised a courtroom Thursday by pleading guilty.
“I admit it. I’m responsible,” Seti Scanlan, 24, said after a San Mateo County Superior Court judge asked whether he had shot and killed Alice Martel during an October robbery at a Wells Fargo Bank branch in Burlingame.
San Mateo County Dist. Atty. Jim Fox said his office is still considering whether to pursue the death penalty against Scanlan.
Besides murder, Scanlan pleaded guilty to nine other felonies from a crime spree last fall.
