A 3-month-old girl and a 37-year-old woman were killed Saturday, and three other people were injured, when their car veered, smashed into a dirt shoulder and rolled down a freeway hillside near Pyramid Lake, authorities said.
Four of the passengers, all from San Jose, were thrown from their vehicle in the 4:30 a.m. crash on the southbound Golden State Freeway, authorities said. A 12-year-old boy, the 21-year-old male driver and a 21-year-old woman were also injured in the accident, but they are expected to survive.
“It looks like they flipped over multiples times down the hillside,” said California Highway Patrol Officer Francisco Villalobos.
He said there were no obvious road or weather conditions to suggest a cause of the accident, which is being investigated.
