Voters Give Themselves More Chances to Vote

Swiss voters -- who have more plebiscites than any other nation -- approved measures to extend their direct democracy.
In a national referendum, 70.3% of voters endorsed reforms giving the electorate more say over international treaties and domestic laws. But turnout was just 28%, indicating many Swiss may be tiring of casting ballots.
The Swiss now vote about three times a year on national matters from hospital costs to asylum laws, in addition to a plethora of local votes such as on building schools and roads.
