Man, 23, Shot Dead in Apparent Gang Killing

A 23-year-old man was fatally shot Friday night in Santa Ana, the city’s second murder since the new year began, police said.
Daniel Rivas of Santa Ana was dropped off about 9 p.m. at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center, where he later died, said Santa Ana Police Sgt. Bill Barrett.
Rivas was shot about 8:30 p.m. in front of a house in the 2600 block of West Ninth Street, Barrett said.
Santa Ana gang-detail officers said the killing may have been gang-related.
