Don’t Make the Disabled Feel Our Budget Pain

Re “The California Budget,” Jan. 11:
We understand your need to balance the budget, but please don’t make the deaf and disabled on Supplemental Security Income pay through their noses. Their SSI checks are painfully small already, and you don’t need to worsen the pain by removing $49 from their monthly SSI checks. It’s a week’s worth of food on the table.
