S&P; Says It May Start Rating Pension Funds

Standard & Poor’s said it might introduce credit ratings for pension funds after increasing expenses and slumping stock markets cost them $2.5 trillion last year.
Discussions are underway with companies and others to see whether there is demand to rate the funds separately, S&P; said.
A decision probably will be made by the end of the year.
