It’s Not Easy Being a College Fan Now

I just read a disturbing piece in the sports section about USC, UCLA and other schools that have been endorsing ephedra products by MET-Rx.
I called the athletic department at USC, and was told they don’t promote athletes using supplements and never have.
I told them that I was a USC All-American in tennis in the early 1970s, and that I would not be a booster of USC anymore until they cleaned up their image. They didn’t care because I don’t donate enough to the school.
Well, you know what, I am not a booster anymore as of now, unless they clean up their image.

The scandals at Georgia, St. Bonaventure and Fresno State certainly add credence to the term “student-athlete” being the mother of all oxymorons.
