Spiegel Seeks Judge’s OK to Open Stores

Spiegel Inc. asked a Bankruptcy Court judge for permission to open seven Eddie Bauer stores in six states and Canada and as many as 10 additional stores.
The move is a reversal of course for Downers Grove, Ill.- based Spiegel, which has closed more than 60 stores along with distribution and customer service centers since filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in March. It is rare for a company to open stores during a bankruptcy case.
