Prison Works

I assume that Vince Beiser is well intentioned in seeking to reduce our overcrowded prisons in his Nov. 4 commentary, “Sentenced to Death by Doing Time.” But his approach to overcrowding seems to criticize California’s harsh sentencing laws, the same laws that have removed many of these sadistic criminals from our neighborhoods for several years. Given the choice of having violent, antisocial thugs incarcerated or standing behind me at the ATM, I’ll vote for tough criminal prosecution and sentencing, thank you.
