Three guards and two inmates at the jail where a serial-killing suspect made a daring escape last week were charged in a drug-smuggling investigation.
The five were arraigned at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility. The guards were charged with bribery, marijuana possession and contraband violations. The inmates were charged with marijuana possession, and one was also charged after allegedly attempting to escape from a hospital gurney.
Police said the guards took payments of $50 to $200 from a police informant to deliver marijuana to inmates last month.
