State Refuses to Release Location of Sex Offender

State authorities are refusing to release information about the new housing arrangements for freed sex offender Cary Verse.
The state’s second sexually violent predator deemed fit for release was taken away late Wednesday from the Fireside Motel in unincorporated Mill Valley.
Liberty Healthcare Corp., the state-contracted agency monitoring Verse’s release, placed him at the motel Feb. 5 and paid $495 for a week’s stay.
His presence in the area created a furor in the community after the Marin County Sheriff’s Department, irritated that he had been dumped in the county without notice, issued a news release telling where Verse was staying.
Neither state correctional officers nor Liberty Healthcare would disclose where Verse had been moved.
