U.S. Firm’s Helicopter Attacked, Pilot Killed

An attacker sprayed a U.S. firm’s helicopter with gunfire in a southern Afghan village, killing the Australian pilot and injuring an American passenger.
Four foreigners and an Afghan interpreter had come to inspect a health clinic. The group was about to leave when a man with an assault rifle attacked them and fled, the provincial governor’s spokesman said.
The helicopter belongs to a New Jersey firm.
