Iraq Toll vs. Dog’s Death

I was saddened that what I usually consider to be an excellent newspaper considered the euthanizing of President Bush’s dog to merit nearly as much space and a more prominent location in Sunday’s edition than the obituaries of the 11 Americans who died last week fighting a war in Iraq that was initiated on false pretenses (Feb. 22). I must also wonder why The Times makes no mention of the people from the other countries in the “coalition of the willing” who must also die every week. It would seem that an estimate of the number of Iraqis who die every week would also be as newsworthy as the death of a dog.
