Eight British servicemen held by Iran after straying into its waters left the country after being released to diplomats, an embassy spokeswoman said.
“They have left. They are going to Dubai and from there to Kuwait,” she said. British officials had said that the servicemen might return to neighboring Iraq, where they had been training Iraqi river patrols.
The eight were seized Monday on the Shatt al Arab waterway along the Iran-Iraq border.
