Attackers ambushed U.N. police and killed two officers in Kosovo province, police said. One was a Kosovo resident and the other a Ghana citizen, the second international officer slain in the five years of the United Nations mission.
The shooting came after riots last week claimed 28 lives and injured 600 in the worst violence since 1999, when North Atlantic Treaty Organization airstrikes ended a Serbian crackdown on ethnic Albanians. For now, Kosovo is a part of Serbia-Montenegro, but remains under international protection.
