Santiago Might Seek Forfeit Win

Corona Santiago has not turned in paperwork seeking a forfeit victory over host Temecula Chaparral, which failed to have officials assigned to its homecoming football game Friday night. The nonleague game was canceled after Santiago declined to play the game Saturday, when several of its players were scheduled to take the SAT.
Santiago Coach Steve Mitchell said he believed the Sharks should be awarded a forfeit but is leaving that decision to school administrators. As of Tuesday afternoon, Santiago had not submitted paperwork, said Southern Section spokesman Thom Simmons.
A forfeit victory could come in handy for the Sharks (1-3), since a .500 record is the main criterion for earning an at-large berth into the playoffs. Chaparral is 3-1.

For Akins to play this season without moving, he needs to receive approval from Commissioner Barbara Fiege. Akins quit the Romans’ baseball team in April.
