A third suspect has been arrested in the drug-related death of a Newbury Park teenager, Ventura County sheriff’s officials said Friday.
Jonathan Martinez, 19, of Camarillo was arrested Wednesday and booked into Ventura County Jail. His bail was set at $50,000.
Authorities say Martinez furnished Victoria “Tia” Nugent, 17, with hallucinogenic mushrooms. The girl was later fatally struck by a vehicle as she wandered a freeway naked about 3 a.m. Aug. 15, according to police reports.
Brian Mitchell, 19, and Alissa Ruef, 18, both of Thousand Oaks, were arrested Sept. 1.
Mitchell and Ruef were charged with furnishing a controlled substance to a minor. Mitchell was also charged with involuntary manslaughter.
Mitchell and Ruef have pleaded not guilty.
