March Air Base Lawsuit Is Challenged

The March Joint Powers Authority and the developer trying to bring the nation’s first private cargo port to a military base filed motions Wednesday seeking dismissal of a lawsuit against the project.
A Feb. 10 hearing was set before Riverside County Superior Court Judge Thomas Cahraman.
Two environmental groups allege the authority, which is overseeing the conversion of March Air Reserve Base to joint private and public use, did not follow proper state environmental law. Commercial shipper DHL is set to operate an around-the-clock sorting center at the base as soon as it can be built.
