Not a Terrorist, Woman Is Deported to S. Africa

A woman thought to be a terrorist who was arrested last year but who turned out to be only an illegal immigrant was deported to her native South Africa, U.S. officials said in Houston.
Farida Goolam Mahomed Ahmed, 49, was sent home after being in U.S. custody since her arrest on July 19 at the airport in McAllen for not having a valid visa.
Federal authorities leapt into the case, thinking she might be an Islamic extremist trying to infiltrate the country. An investigation determined she was not.
