* Taylor Chaput, Claremont Webb: Had 20 kills for the Gauls in a 25-19, 25-23, 25-19 Prep League upset of Arcadia Rio Hondo Prep, ranked No. 4 in Division V-A.

BOYS’ WATER POLO

* Kyle Thorsness, Costa Mesa: Scored nine goals for the host Mustangs in a 19-13 Golden West League victory over Fountain Valley Los Amigos.

* Brian Taylor, Mission Hills Alemany: Had eight goals and two assists in the Indians’ 17-1 Mission League victory over Sherman Oaks Notre Dame.

* Jessica Lai, Arcadia: Shot a three-under-par 34 to earn medalist honors and lead the Apaches to a 211-219 nonleague win over Diamond Bar at Santa Anita Golf Course.

* Kelly McKittrick, Newport Beach Corona del Mar: Swept her three singles sets at love to lead the Sea Queens, ranked No. 5 in Division I, to a 16-2 victory at Pacific Coast League rival Santa Ana Calvary Chapel.
