Iran Promises Access to U.N., Envoy Says

Iran has pledged to give U.N. inspectors access to equipment from the former Lavisan-Shian military site, a diplomat said in Vienna.
The diplomat, who asked not to be identified because of the issue’s sensitivity, said Iran made the promise this week in a fax to International Atomic Energy Agency official Olli Heinonen.
Iran tore down a military-linked research center at Lavisan-Shian in 2004 before the IAEA could test for particles on equipment it believed was obtained for uranium enrichment.
The U.S. and European Union suspect Iran is trying to build a bomb. Iran says it wants nuclear technology only for electricity.
