House Shrinks but OKs Health Records Bill

Legislation to accelerate the computerization of health records, by removing legal barriers and establishing national standards, was approved by the House, 270-148.
The bill would provide $40 million over five years, compared with a Senate measure that would spend $150 million to help physicians buy new technology. Senate and House negotiators must work out a compromise but have relatively few workdays left before November elections.
