The woman who shot and killed her son’s alleged molester in a Tuolumne County courtroom more than a decade ago has been freed from prison after serving a drug sentence.
Ellie Nesler was released Sunday from the Central California Women’s Facility in Chowchilla. She was sentenced in 2002 to six years in prison for selling and possessing illegal drugs.
Nesler gained notoriety in 1993 for shooting Daniel Driver five times during a break in his preliminary hearing. She served three years of a 10-year sentence before winning an appeal based on jury misconduct.
