Capitol Records building given tentative protection

The City Council’s planning committee voted Tuesday to give the Capitol Records building in Hollywood tentative cultural monument status, meaning that the outside of the building is largely protected from being altered.
Earlier this year, the owner of the building, EMI, said that although it was not trying to sell the building, the firm had received sales offers.
