The first two productions of L.A. Opera’s 2007-08 season will be broadcast live on KUSC-FM (91.5).
The classical music station will cover the premiere of Beethoven’s “Fidelio” at 6 p.m. Sept. 8, the first time that L.A. Opera’s opening night has been broadcast live since the company’s first production in 1986.
KUSC will follow up the next day with Verdi’s “Requiem” at 2 p.m. Duff Murphy and Gail Eichenthal will host both broadcasts.
Plácido Domingo, general director of L.A. Opera, noted that he had performed in the production of “Otello” that KUSC carried in 1986 and said he was “thrilled that, due to the efforts of many, this partnership can continue again this season.”
