7 children hurt as van runs into bus

A private van taking children to school collided with a city bus in Queens, injuring seven children including a 9-year-old girl who was hospitalized in critical condition, officials said.
Officials said the van appeared to have been carrying the children illegally. The vehicle had not been inspected properly and was of a type not authorized to transport schoolchildren, they said.
Police and school officials said the van made a left turn into the path of an oncoming bus.
