Kobe and Shaq

I was reading T.J. Simers’ article on Kobe Bryant in Tuesday’s paper, and I was bored. Making statements that the ticket sales will decline and fans will not be entertained because of the maturity of Kobe has to be the most ridiculous statement I have read.

As a fan, I can say that I love to see the other players involved in the game and to see everyone on the same page. There is no question that the maturity of Kobe is a big plus for the Lakers. Maybe if you matured, Mr. Simers, that would be a big plus for the L.A. Times. Until then I will skip your articles.

Last week, Larry Frazin of Santa Monica was incredulous that Lakers fans had the gall to boo Saint Shaq. Perhaps you, Larry, would like to be responsible for the $30 million a year it would have taken to keep him here for last season, this season (great return on that money so far, huh?), next season and a few seasons beyond that. That’s the only reason he’s not here anymore.

I wasn’t at the game when he was booed, but if I had been, I would have been booing right along with the rest. I’m proud that they did.

There should be a new trophy for Kobe Bryant’s fans: The “We Wish He Would Be MVP.”
