Spears assets stay in father’s hands

The court-appointed conservatorship that controls the assets of pop star Britney Spears will continue through at least the end of the year, a Los Angeles court commissioner ruled Thursday.
Commissioner Riva Goetz said Spears was “reluctantly agreeing” to the arrangement allowing her father, James Spears, to continue making financial decisions involving his 26-year-old daughter.
Goetz also ruled that Spears will continue to pay Samuel Ingham, one of the attorneys for the conservatorship, $10,000 a week for his work until at least the end of the year.
In a related court matter, Spears’ father and her former manager, Sam Lutfi, came to a private agreement Thursday that effectively suspended a restraining order filed against Lutfi.
