Riverside eliminates Fullerton

Roney Friend scored a game-high 17 points and also grabbed 13 rebounds to lead UC Riverside to a 59-47 victory over Cal State Fullerton in the quarterfinals of the Big West Conference’s women’s tournament at the Anaheim Convention Center on Thursday.
The third-seeded Highlanders (14-15) also got 16 points and nine rebounds from Brittany Waddell. UC Riverside will play second-seeded UC Davis in the semifinals today at 2:30.
Freshman Lauren Chow led Fullerton (11-19) with 14 points and was the only Titans player to score in double figures.
Riverside, which used a 12-5 run late to put the game away, held Fullerton to 27% shooting from the field.
Cal Poly SLO 79, Pacific 76 -- Sparkle Anderson scored 18 points, including a late three-point basket, and Rebecca Tratter had a career-high-tying 16 points to lead the fifth-seeded Mustangs (13-18) over the fourth-seeded Tigers (13-16).
Cal Poly will play top-seeded UC Santa Barbara today at noon.
