Teachers reach accord on salaries

Teachers in the Huntington Beach City School District reached a tentative salary agreement with district officials Wednesday after negotiations had stalled.
Teachers are scheduled to receive a 3.5% pay raise retroactively for the school year that is weeks from ending, said Kathy Hogan, president of the Huntington Beach Elementary Teachers Assn.
She said the more than 300 teachers in the elementary and middle school district will receive cost-of-living pay bumps next school year. Teachers had protested in previous weeks, complaining that district officials’ negotiations were unfair.
