BALTIMORE — Koji Uehara gave up one run over five innings in his major league debut, Nick Markakis went three for three with a homer and three RBIs and the Baltimore Orioles beat Chien-Ming Wang and the New York Yankees, 7-5, on Wednesday night.
Uehara, the Orioles’ first Japanese-born pitcher, gave up five hits and a walk before leaving with a 7-1 lead.
A two-run homer by Derek Jeter got the Yankees to 7-4 in the ninth, and Mark Teixeira greeted George Sherrill with an RBI double. Sherrill then retired Hideki Matsui to earn the save.
