ARLINGTON, TEXAS — Joe Mauer had a new power partner Tuesday night, and the combination helped the Minnesota Twins defeat the Texas Rangers.
With AL RBI leader Justin Morneau sidelined by an ear infection, Mauer homered twice and Delmon Young had a go-ahead two-run homer to lead the Twins to a 9-6 win.
Minnesota piled up 12 hits and eight runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings in rallying from a 5-0 deficit. The loss dropped Texas into a tie with Boston for the wild-card lead.
