Regarding the On the Spot column about foreign accents [“Sounding Off,” Jan. 25] not being recognized by voice-activated response systems: I am fortunate that my wife has a normal accent, so I always hand the phone to her.

However, you can do all of us with an accent a big favor if you would just give us the option of punching in the numbers or responses instead of speaking in the phone.
