Bad credit creates downward spiral

Re: David Lazarus’ consumer column “Taking integrity to the bank,” June 21:

This has been left out of the mix: how consumers will be at the mercy of credit reporting bureaus because of our economic downturn.

Lost jobs affect how bills are paid, which leads to the inability of many applicants to procure a new job and/or maintain a current job based on a negative credit rating.
