Violent storms that spawned at least one tornado left a path of destruction in the northern part of the state, killing a woman and damaging dozens of buildings.
The city of Kirksville apparently took the hardest hit, with 30 to 40 homes damaged and one destroyed, police said. An elderly woman was killed in a mobile home in neighboring Sullivan County, authorities said.
