‘Vanities’ to play in Pasadena before heading to Broadway

A veteran Broadway cast has been set for Pasadena Playhouse’s pre-Broadway run of Jack Heifner’s new musical, “Vanities.”
Lauren Kennedy (“Spamalot,” “Side Show”), Sarah Stiles (“Avenue Q”) and Anneliese van der Pol (“Beauty and the Beast”) will headline the show, based on Heifner’s long-running 1976 off-Broadway comedy about Texas women coming of age in the 1960s and ‘70s.
The production fetures music and lyrics by David Kirshenbaum.
Directed by two-time Tony Award-winner Judith Ivey, “Vanities” will play in Pasadena Aug. 29 to Sept. 28 before a fall opening at a New York theater to be announced.
Tickets go on sale Saturday.
