Reader Photo: A ‘typical’ Southern California winter

It’s the dead of winter, and though it’s snowing on the East Coast, those of us in Southern California are still enjoying our beach weather.
Over the weekend, photographer Amparo Rios took a day trip to Ventura and captured this scene. Dozens of swimmers, paddle boarders and surfers out for some winter waves and sun, the Channel Islands in the distance.
“I’m always glad to see a peaceful day at the beach in beautiful Ventura,” Rios said. “I love seeing how some people enjoy our typical Southern California winter.”
Rios used a Nickon DSLR to make the image.
