Baseball: Former Peninsula pitcher Eli Morgan is rising prospect
- Share via
The pro scouts probably weren’t impressed when Eli Morgan was going 10-2 with a 1.23 ERA at Peninsula High as a senior in 2014 because he was only 5 feet 10.
But they’re going to start paying attention the way he’s getting batters out and throwing fastballs above 90 mph.
He has one of the top ERAs in the Alaska Baseball League with a 5-0 record and 0.82 ERA.
As a freshman last season at Gonzaga, he was 1-0 with a 2.36 ERA. He should be one of Gonzaga’s three starting pitchers next spring as a sophomore.
Another Southern California player performing well this summer in Alaska is former Ventura Buena pitcher Drew Jacobs, who is 1-1 with an 0.30 ERA.
Former Bishop Amat pitcher Alex Garcia threw a no-hitter in a game this summer and is 2-0 with a 1.90 ERA.
