Boys’ basketball: Crespi Coach Russell White is heading out on another senior night
- Share via
Years ago, Crespi Coach Russell White found out that Newport Harbor Coach Larry Hirst would go visit his former players on senior night in college.
“He said it was a great experience to be part of. I said, ‘That’s a great idea,’” White said.
White will be making his fourth trip to a college to see off one of his former players. On Saturday, he’s traveling to Sonoma State to honor senior Michael Avery.
“I’m really proud of him,” White said. “He’s really grown up and matured.”
Avery has made it through ups and downs. In 2008, he was the youngest player, an eighth-grader, to commit to Kentucky.
White is already planning his next trip to honor a former Crespi player. That would be to Virginia, where next season, London Perrantes will be a senior.
