“We just won CIF,” an excited Santa Barbara player shouted in the hallway headed to the locker room at Honda Center.
“We’re on a business trip,” another said.
Yes, Santa Barbara (31-1) made the most of its long drive to Anaheim, winning the Southern Section 2A championship on Saturday with a 75-65 win over Lynwood.
Ben Clay scored 16 points, John Cage had 15 points and 15 rebounds, Ben Brown scored 15 points, Bolden Brace had 14 points and Nick Busch added 13. That kind of balance was critical to Santa Barbara’s success.
Oscar Lopez led Lynwood with 17 points.
