The sophomore duo of Riley Battin and Wes Slajchert had no trouble dealing with the atmosphere of playing a championship game at Honda Center on Saturday. Battin scored 30 points and Slajchert added 18 points as Oak Park routed Bonita, 68-49, to win the 3AA title.
Coach Aaron Shaw (26-6) doesn’t just have a section title team. The Eagles could be the No. 1 seed in next week’s Division III Southern California Regionals.
They opened a 35-21 halftime lead and were never threatened.
Battin made 13 of 18 shots and added eight rebounds. Slajchert was seven of eight shooting.
Joe Quintana scored 15 points for Bonita.
