Football: Kickers are ready to make impact

Kickers and punters have become an important part of football teams. The good teams have terrific special teams.
As far as kickers this season, several return after displaying lots of accuracy in 2014.
Junior Manny Berz of Citrus Hill was 10 of 11 on field goals. Senior Caleb Watkins of Glendora was 11 of 14, including a 49-yarder. Mateo Thompson of Murrieta Mesa made 11 of 14.
Andrew Nielsen of Hart set a school record with a 54-yard field goal.
Fidel Romo of Phelan Banning is the top returning punber in the state. Jerry Fitschen of Orange Lutheran is known for his booming kickoffs. Alexander Vasquez of La Serna made 10 of 11 field goals. Junior Steele Ledford of Thousand Oaks made 10 of 12 field goals.
If the weather gets bad as predicted for later this season, the kicking game could become even more crucial to success.
