Football: Let the countdown begin

In 23 days, the high school football season will begin with a full slate of games on Aug. 29 and 30. That means it’s time to start identifying the top players for the 2013 season.

Beginning on Tuesday in Varsity Times Insider, I will offer a daily sneak peek of top players to watch in the City Section and Southern Section position by position.

Then, starting on Aug. 21, a nine-part series, with lists of Southern California’s top players based on recommendations from coaches and college recruiting experts, will begin, leading up to the opening weekend of football.
