Miami forward Chris Bosh won’t play against Lakers today

Miami Heat forward-center Chris Bosh will miss Sunday’s game against the Lakers after attending his grandmother’s funeral. Heat Coach Erik Spoelstra told reporters that Bosh, who had already missed two games, planned to rejoin the team Tuesday in Miami against the New Jersey Nets.
The news was somewhat of a surprise to Lakers Coach Mike Brown. He said at Saturday’s practice he expected Bosh to play. In any case, Bosh’s absence will hardly change how the Lakers match up against Miami. In Bosh’s place the Heat will start Udonis Haslem, allowing LeBron James to remain at small forward.
“It’s a little bit of a blow because he’s one of their best players, but you take LeBron and [Dwyane] Wade and you still have a pretty good team,” Brown said. “I don’t think it changes much. I’m not going to say they won’t miss him, but they’re still a pretty good team without him.”
Wade sat out with a sprained ankle when the Lakers and Heat first met this season, but Miami still won, 98-87, though the Lakers’ Pau Gasol overpowered Bosh with a season-high 26 points on 11-for-19 shooting.
