GTE Sprint will cut long-distance phone rates.

The firm, a subsidiary of GTE, said interstate telephone call fees for business and residential customers will come down an average of 4.2% effective July 15. The biggest cuts will apply to high-volume business users, whose rates could fall as much as 28.5%. Individual customers who call coast to coast will save about 10%, the company said.
