Santa Ana : Driver Jailed After Cars Collide, Killing Man, 30

A 30-year-old man was killed and his three passengers were injured Sunday when another driver ran a stop sign and slammed into the vehicle carrying the four people, Santa Ana police said.
Police said the accident involved a drunk driver and occurred at 7 p.m. at the intersection of Broadway and Cubbon Street.
Killed was Oscar Padilla, 30, of Santa Ana. Padilla’s two children, Jose, 7, and Oscar Jr., 4, were taken to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital with internal and head injuries and listed in serious condition.
Rafael Gonzalez, 30, of Santa Ana, another passenger in Padilla’s car, sustained only slight injuries, police said.
The driver of the other car, Jaime Quinones Garcia, 31, of Costa Mesa, was traveling west on Cubbon Street and ran the stop sign when he reached Broadway, police said. He was booked into Orange County Jail on felony manslaughter and drunk-driving charges.
Another passenger in Garcia’s car, Gabriel Valle, 30, suffered head injuries and was also taken to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital where he was listed in fair condition.
