DWI Corp. Tuesday reported that its losses doubled during the quarter ended September 27 from the same period last year.
The Irvine-based industrial design company said the net loss for the fiscal first quarter totaled $113,078, more than double the $56,518 DWI lost during the first quarter of fiscal 1985.
Revenues for the quarter fell to $634,257, down 29% compared with first quarter revenues of $903,309 during the comparable period last year.
Company officials could not be reached for comment Tuesday, but in a prepeared statement Robert K. Fujioka, DWI’s chairman, blamed the losses on “delays in commencing certain major design projects.” He said the losses will continue through the end of the second quarter, but profits will follow.
“Operations have been adjusted to provide for a lower break-even point which will result in more profitable new business,” Fujioka said. “Based on our present backlog, we expect to reach profitable operations during the third quarter.”
