Judge Grants Man’s Demand for Longer Sentence in Prison

HAGERSTOWN, Md. — A defendant who disagreed with his sentence for breaking into a store threw a chair at the judge Tuesday and asked for a stiffer jail term. The judge complied.
“Give me more time, man,” said Galen Myers, 19, after Circuit Judge John Corderman sentenced him to four years for breaking into a Hagerstown market in July. Myers then stood up and overturned his heavy wooden chair.
“Mr. Myers had demonstrated he doesn’t want to be rehabilitated,” Corderman said. He changed the sentence to 10 years in state prison.
While being led from the courtroom, Myers reportedly reached over a wooden railing and threw a second chair at Corderman.
